PROJECT: The Holmes Family Meets Mercedes Homes

Sadie Holmes, a single mother of five children aged nine to sixteen years, has overcome drug addiction and established an organization to help others in need. The organization grew so large that Sadie had to move her family from their home to a rented apartment in 2003 to make room for the donations being given to the non-profit. The home they vacated was severely damaged by Hurricane Charley in 2004, and then further damaged by an electrical fire in August 2005. Despite a lack of insurance, no means to fix the house, and with rent to pay and a family to care for, Sadie has continued to run her non-profit out of the damaged house while leasing a separate apartment for her family to live in.
Enter Extreme Makeover Home Edition and Mercedes New Homes. With experienced leadership and an awesome team, Mercedes Homes has grown into one of the largest homebuilders in the United States. As a family and as the principals of Mercedes Homes, the Bueschers have always spent time and resources giving back to their community. As Mercedes Homes has grown, so has their commitment to helping others in need. Now 100% employee-owned, Mercedes Homes donated nearly one half million dollars toward charitable causes in 2005, including over $200,000 to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. The company remains steadfast in their support of youth programs and organizations helping individuals with special needs.
